Tarun Art Gallery’s emphasis has always been research-driven. Our curatorial exercises, publication, art appreciation workshops and educational initiatives have worked together to enhance the understanding and appreciation of Modern art in India.
In the holistic approach further, Tarun Art Gallery has also established a fully functioning Archive department. Archives, unlike libraries, are institutions that store, preserve, and often conserve, giving access to primary records. Tarun Art Gallery Archives has amassed vast quantities of historical and personal documents of its artists. These specimens include photographic, print documents, legalese, hand-written letters, postcards, personal journals and diaries and many personal belongings used by the artists. Our archive department is responsible for the identification followed by classification, documentation, cataloguing and storage of the material to be utilized for research purposes by the gallery and also accessed by external researchers on appointment.
