Abudulrahim Appabhai Almelkar studied at Sir JJ School of Art, Mumbai, and graduated in 1948. In the early days of learning, he was influenced by the works of Bendre and Langhammer that inspired him to paint. His main interests were directed to naturalistic and figurative landscapes. his works are based on traditional styles incorporated with the elements of tribal and folk art. In 1995 he transformed his style into a two-dimensional work crafted with the simplicity of traditional art and their earthy colour palate. he eliminated the chiaroscuro.
