Born and brought up in West Bengal, India, Nilay Sarkar is an emerging artist whose practice is rooted in classical training and fueled by a deep, heartfelt connection to his subject matter. Sarkar graduated with a B.Com (Pass) from Calcutta University in 1991 before dedicating himself fully to art, completing a four-year Diploma in Painting with a First Class from the Academy of Fine Arts in 1994. Sarkar has established himself through a diverse body of work that utilizes watercolors, acrylic, oil, and mixed media. His canvases are distinguished by fresh, vibrant strokes and a commitment to portraying the culture, people, and landscapes of his daily existence.
