Sanjay Kumar

Painter | India

Born in 1981

« Awarded a gold medal in 1985 for Youth festival by Govt. of Bihar, Patna.. »

Sanjay Kumar has always been in search of the mysterious face of time, in which he sees a sense of movement. This, to him, is a symbol of life. He believes that man is nature's highest creation. He believes that every effort of man represents either the bright or the dark side of human nature. His paintings, therefore, are an expression of the positive and negative traits, which he observes in the people around him. His figures are spotlighted, thereby heightening the sense of drama in his works. The luminous hues that accentuate the energy of the painting are complemented by rustic wooden frames, which form an integral part of the work. Sanjay studied painting from College of Arts & Crafts, Patna University, Patna in the year 1988. Sanjay has held numerous solo exhibitions at Nehru Center and Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai and has been part of many group shows like Regional Art Exhibition, Lucknow 1989, Contemporary Artist of Bihar at Ravindra Bhavan, New Delhi 1989-1990 . He was awarded Research Grant by Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi in 1992-1993, and the Junior Fellowship, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Culture, Government of India, in the year 1995-1997. He was also awarded a gold medal in 1985 for Youth festival by Govt. of Bihar, Patna. Premchand Yuva Mahotsava (Gold Medal), Kalakar Sanghrash Samiti, Patna in 1986.
