Ramesh Gorjala Born in 1979, Srikalahasti, Andhra Pradesh, India When priests in his temple town Srikalahasti were worshipping the deities, Ramesh Gorjala would be rapt in attention. As an infant, he observed the varied rituals closely and deliberated both on the temple sculptures and the proceedings. Back home, he would dunk his own brush in natural dyes to narrate the mythological tales. The scriptures that he read turned into pictures that he painted. “When he began to paint, he realized that many artists had pictured gods and goddesses earlier. So he started incorporating innumerable figures with in the outline of Hanuman or Krishna and thus incorporated different stories with in the same frame. Now the technique has become his trademark. It had travelled with him from Srikalahasti to numerous countries and was exhibited from London to Hongkong and Singapore. Comprising over 50 works- canvases and wooden relief sculptures, he had painted numerous mythological tales in a detailed way. For example, two brothers Arjuna and Bheema share the same canvas with stories of Arjuna’s Bravery and Bheema’s strength with in their curvaceous frame. His work was recognized by the Honorable Prime Minister of India. And those flying into Tirupati can see his Mamooth 11 ft X 64 ft artwork divided into 67 parts featuring Lord Ganesha, Hanuman, Krishna, Vishnu, Matsya and Garuda.
