« "Chaos is my peace.". »

Harshh Kumar is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice seamlessly navigates painting, printmaking, sculpture, performance, and photography. His body of work acts as a vital, cathartic channel, translating the continuous dialogue between internal turbulence and the external, shifting landscapes he encounters, from the rugged mountains of Himachal to the urban complexity of Old Delhi. Holding an MFA from Central University Himachal Pradesh (2023) and a BFA from Amity University (2021), his work is informed by rigorous academic training fused with intuitive exploration. A significant artistic evolution occurred during his time in Himachal Pradesh. Lacking conventional materials, the artist engaged in a tactile conversation with his surroundings, using discovered objects and earthy textures. This experience forged a deeper connection to landscape as an embodied experience, moving beyond mere visual documentation. This rejection of rigid structure is foundational: the art frequently avoids straight lines and instead celebrates the unpredictability and intuitive flow inherent in nature and life. Rooted in Lyrical Abstraction, the work prioritizes gesture, emotion, and rhythm over geometry and form. His mark making, unrestricted and intimate, mirrors the nonlinear, multilayered geography of Delhi's meandering streets, translating this urban intricacy into an internal map of human emotion. Compositions are often dominated by the contrast of black and white, representing both complexity and clarity, with colors emerging only to communicate a precise remnant of memory or feeling. Ultimately, his art provides a silent resistance to a noisy world. It began as an exploration of the self and personal space, yet consistently evolves into a collective language where abstraction serves as metaphor. His pieces, found in private collections in Dubai and London and supported by the Amar Nath Sehgal Young Artist Program, are an invitation to feel, to inquire, and to recognize that emotional terrain is just as defining as geographic location.
