Akbar Padamsee is considered to be one of the pioneers in Modern Indian painting. Padamsee graduated from JJ School of Art in Mumbai in 1951 and later moved to Paris, where he was touched by many Fauvists painters. In 1959 he returned to Mumbai and planned to initiate one of the most celebrated projects by him. He started working only in shades of grey that was out of the box by him. During his carrier, he explored many mediums and techniques and was known for his boldness towards experimentation and individuality. His works range from few genres that include- prophets, heads, couples, still-life, grey works, meta-scape, mirror images and tertiaries. He worked with various mediums from oil painting, watercolour, sculpture, plastic emulsion, printmaking to computer graphics, and photography. Akbar Padamsee graduated from the Sir J. J. School of Arts in 1951, with a Diploma in Painting.

Akbar Padamsee is considered to be one of the pioneers in Modern Indian painting.
